As a tribute to all the innocent lives that were lost on the seventh of October 2023

In the shadow of my father, I understood the sacred duty he bore in the army: to rescue the fallen and give them their last rest. This duty is etched in my memory, woven into the melancholy songs sung by his friends, a testament to the shared burden between them. This legacy of mourning re-echoed on a sad day in October, when the "Chevre Kadisha" company carried out its sacred mission in southern Israel, collecting the remains of the innocent following the terrible act of Hamas. Among the stories of loss, one story burned itself into my consciousness: 30 little black bags, each a silent testament to the lives of babies tragically cut short, a horrifying reminder of the senseless cruelty of conflict. This story left an indelible impression on me, and inspired me to create a work of art - a baby in a plastic bag -

In the wake of such heartache, my instinct was to cover the stinging pain with a semblance of beauty—to cover the stinging reality with flowers. I chose not to show the original, creepy image but to invite the viewers to look beyond the delicate veil of the rash. I hope that in the interplay of beauty and tragedy, the viewer is moved to ponder the hidden depths and feel the deep loss without confronting its powerful horror. The flowers are not just a shroud but a symbol. They represent resilience, a stark contrast to violence, and a tribute to the enduring spirit of the innocent.
